I am retired engineer and have over 20 years experience as a school Governor and 12 years as Chair. I have significant experience of schools finance, school performance, building projects etc. I hope I can continue to use this to help Bedford Primary continue to be the great community school it is, within Southport Learning Trust. My passion is about helping to provide the best rounded education for the children and not just chase exams results.

I have been a Co-opted Governor at Bedford Primary for several years. I enjoy the various roles that involve me with the staff and children. Being a part of the Governing Body has enabled me to see the opportunities given to the children to help and assist them to achieve their own personal potential. Also living in the same community that Bedford Primary is situated provides me with greater opportunities to build relationships with parents as well as the children.

In my role as Vice Principal at Hillside High School there is no better way to support pupils transition up to high school than to uphold such an integral role as governor at Bedford Primary. I have been teaching for over 15 years and have been in senior leadership for over 5 years. Primarily my role is to ensure high quality teaching and learning for all. We all go into teaching because we care about the outcomes and prospects of young people and my role as governor allows for crossover between Primary and Secondary to help guide the learning and further enrich the experience for our pupils across the two phases.

I have been involved with Bedford’s Board of Governors for many years and my own family have had four generations at Bedford Primary. My own children came to Bedford and have very fond memories of their school years. Working at Bedford is a real pleasure. My passion is encouraging and supporting families to learn together whilst having fun. I love playing an active role in the life of school and strive to give all children who attend Bedford the opportunity to achieve and aspire to fulfil their potential.

I have worked at Bedford Primary School for over 10 years as a class teacher and I am passionate about providing our children with the best possible education so that each individual reaches their true potential. I have worked in several year groups in Key Stage 2 and am currently based in Year 4. I thoroughly enjoy my role as Staff Governor as I feel it provides me with further opportunities to work alongside staff, families and our community to ensure our pupils receive an enriching and inspiring curriculum.

I retired from primary school teaching in August 2024.My last teaching post at Bedford Primary School gave me a specific insight into what makes this school special. I am passionate about the crucial role our Early Years curriculum plays in building strong foundations for learning and the impact this has on future success. I am a keen swimmer and qualified swim coach. I enjoy teaching adults, children and pre-school swim classes. I am secretary to ‘Friends of Crosby Beach’ (FOCB) a voluntary organisation, dedicated to raising the awareness of the damage ‘litter,’ including single use plastic, is doing to our environment. We organise monthly community beach cleans and bespoke cleans for local organisations, schools and community groups. I consider myself a creative individual and lifelong learner. It is a privilege to continue to offer my support to the school as a school governor. I enjoy working as a team alongside like-minded professionals to ensure standards remain high at Bedford Primary School and help every individual reach their full potential.

In my role as Assistant Headteacher over the past four years, I have specialised in leading pupil premium strategy and safeguarding—two areas that are fundamental to ensuring every child is supported to flourish. With extensive experience in education and a commitment to improving outcomes for all pupils, I am passionate about breaking down barriers to learning and creating safe, nurturing environments where young people can thrive. My work allows me to champion the most vulnerable learners, and I value the opportunity to collaborate with Bedford, supporting them as they continue to strive for the best outcomes for their pupils
